Lux TX9000RF Programmable Thermostat with Remote
The radio-frequency remote lets you change the temperature from almost anywhere in your home.
Multiple Programming Options
One of the easiest ways to reduce utility costs is to program your thermostat to fit your schedule. The TX9000RF lets you create a different program for every day of the week, and you can enter four different time periods and temperature settings in a 24-hour period. And when you're away from home, you can use the vacation hold option to ensure that you're not paying to heat or cool an empty house.

Control the Temperature from Anywhere in Your Home
Unlike infrared remotes that require a direct path, the TX9000RF's remote uses radio frequency, so you can change the temperature from most anywhere in your home through walls, floors, and ceilings--even if you're several rooms away from the thermostat.

Accurate, User-Friendly Design
Featuring the latest in digital technology for highly accurate temperature control and a patented Lux Speed Dial for easy programming, the TX9000RF is precise and user friendly. For further convenience, an EL backlight improves visibility in low-light conditions and makes it easy to read the time and temperature.

Save Money and the Environment
Like all programmable thermostats, the TX9000RF helps reduce energy consumption, but this efficient device takes savings a step further. To maximize your home's energy efficiency, the TX9000RF comes preprogrammed with a default heating and cooling schedule that's designed to save up to $500 in energy costs over a year, and can also help cut down on your carbon footprint. Because the TX9000RF is 100% mercury free, you can be sure it's a safe and environmentally conscious choice for your home.

Compatible with Most 24-Volt Heating and Air Conditioning Systems
The TX9000RF is compatible with most 24-volt heating and air conditioning systems, including forced air, single stage, and central air systems, heat pumps without auxiliary heat, hot water baseboard and steam heat radiators, and 750 millivolt systems (gas fireplaces/wall heaters).

Six "AA" alkaline batteries are required for operation (batteries not included).

5 out of 5 stars Best deal for the money   July 18, 2010

Checked out many thermostats with remote before buying this unit... By far the best for the money... Easy to install, takes 10 minutes and works like a $300.00 unit... Life is good...

5 out of 5 stars Lux remote themostat   April 2, 2010

I bought this thermostat for my mother so she could lie in bed and adjust the heat to her liking. The unit is also programmable but it is easy to bypass the program to make manual adjustments either on the thermostat itself or with the remote. We found that the remote works well from her bedroom 30' away and that the thermostat holds temperatures well and is accurate. The programming of the unit is easier than most. The directions for the unit are barely adequate. With the remote base unit it takes 4 AA batteries plus two more for the remote itself and it is not specified in the directions which batteries are used for receiving remote signals and which are to hold the program. Other than this small frustration it is a nice unit and I would recommend it.

1 out of 5 stars Thermostat could have caused fire   March 29, 2010

I installed a Lux TX9000a about 18 hours ago (10:00 am on Sunday, March 28). The thermostat worked until about 16 1/2 hours ago (2:30 am Monday, March 29). At around 2:30 am my wife and I woke up a little cold. I had programmed the thermostat to run at 65 degrees starting at 11:00 pm. I clicked the handy little "up" button 4 times on the included remote control to change the temperature to 69 degrees (our normal daytime temp). We heard the small blower/fan start on the furnace and the furnace ignite, then the main blower came on and ran for about 10 minutes. We then heard the main blower shut off. We both knew there was no way the furnace could have increased the heat in our house 4 degrees in 10 minutes. I checked the thermostat, and it showed it was in "override" mode, was flashing "heat," but the temperature on the display showed 64 degrees. I checked the furnace to make sure everything was running properly. I found that the burner was still running, but the main blower was NOT running. I went back to check the settings on the thermostat. While I was looking at that, I heard the furnace re-ignite, even though the burner was STILL ON. I let the burner continue, thinking maybe there was a little glitch in the thermostat. Then about 10 minutes later, the blower shut off. Another minute or so later, the furnace again re-ignited, WHILE the burner was still burning gas (pretty obvious to see through the cover on my furnace). I have a York Stellar furnace, about 18 years old.

The thermostat had been working on its programmed mode for about 16 1/2 hours before this snafu started.

I don't want to hear any garbage about testing batteries, wires, or voltage. I used brand new Duracell and Energizer batteries. The wires match the frigging wiring diagram, and I had used a programmable thermostat on this furnace before. (The ONLY reason I go the Lux TX900a was for the remote control.) I have already checked several home improvement sites and found that this is a common problem when using the remote control to temporarily override the temperature on the Lux TX 9000a.

To avoid burning my house down, I reset the thermostat and reprogrammed it to run at the same temperature every minutes of the day. While I was typing up a support ticket to Lux ([...]), the furnace completely shut off, reignited, then shut off a few times while the thermostat said it was 68 degrees, though it was programmed at 69. This went on for 45 mnutes. I decided to install my old thermostat at 4:30 am, because I don't want my house to burn down.

Oh, if Lux decides they don't like this message, I'll be more than happy to show my insurance company this letter and let the lawyers battle this out.

5 out of 5 stars This is my second one!   March 15, 2010
Jonathan J. Kim
I just read some of the reviews that people posted for this product and other products I bought. It's amazing that people complain about things that are completely irrelevent to the product themselves. Okay, so you got yours late or it came in damaged...what is that got to do with the product?? I guess people just like to vent. Anyway, this is my second LUX 900RF thermostat. I had my first one for over 4 years and loved it. Recently, my heater wouldn't come on and I thought it was my thermostat so I replaced it since it was out of the 3 year warranty. It turned out to be my heater but I'm glad I replaced it with this newer model anyway. It works great and does not interfere with my other RF devices like my TV remote extenders in different parts of the house. I can turn up or down the temp in any part of the house and the thermometer seems more accurate with this model. Great product!!

As far as I can understand, this one does not support aux heat. So had to get a different one. I found a much better model in a local home store from a different company that has many extra features in a similar price range.
