Works well, but noisy November 22, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Like the other review I read, this thing is a bit noisy. It seems the original equipment mounted with Velcro, which would tend to dampen the transmission of motor vibrations to the metal fireplace enclosure. This thing mounts with magnets, which makes it really easy to install and reposition, but I think they make it a bit noisier. Other than that the ground (green) wire came off right away. I checked and there was a burr under the screw that held the wire in place. I cleaned that up and put it back together and it held okay. That burr combined with the way the power cable is made was the issue... The ground wire had much less slack than the other two wires. Maybe they should consider including a little nylon wire clip to hold the cord so that none of the three wires has to deal with the strain. Overall though, I think this is an acceptable replacement fan and the price is much better than the original equipment, which is why I gave it 4 stars overall.
Energy saver January 12, 2007 This unit installed so easily and had already paid for itself by a lowered heating bill! The only drawback is the noise...but it's easy to get used to and the heat is delicious!
