When it worked, it worked well. It started up my 1999 Jetta just fine when needed on several occasions in hot and cold weather. After the winter following the two year expiration the battery would no longer charge and is now useless. ~$40 for two years of good service isn't too bad though.

Unit arrived almost full charge. Otherwise charges quickly. Did not
yet have a need to start my car. Sems well built. Clamps are metal,
not plastic, so they should hold well.

At first, I only kept it at the house but then, over time, I learened that if your car is giving you even the slightest symptom of not starting then just bring it with you. IT is important to keep it charged however because if it gets frozen when it is dead then it can damage the unit. Admittedly it does strain a bit to get the engine turning over, but it does what it's meant to do, so what more can I say. Also, the fact it can be charged from the car accessory (cigarette lighter) outlet as well as the mains supply means once the engine is running this can be staright back on charge in the car. I always carry this as a back up now. Great little jump starter at a great cost. I was shocked at the small size of this unit when it arrived and a little skeptical, but it has successfully jump started my 3.3L V6 engine from dead now twice, once in freezing conditions.

used this 4-5 times over a 6 month period without charging (other than initial charge) and battery is still at 3/4 charge. what tops it off, is that it has a air pump with lit gauge. add a 12v DC to 110v AC inverter and you can charge laptops, run Compact florescent lights, phone charger, etc...
after initial charge, unit has been kept in the back of the vehicle and forgotten about until needed. Almost want to get another one for the other vehicle.

Disappointed: I have owned one of these for the past 10 years. What I found in the newer version is that although it is now more expensive, the quality has been reduced drastically. The clamps are smaller & cheaper material and the remote power outlet has been removed. I used it for running things like: 12 Volt impact wrench, air pump and even a digital messagenger sign along with Jump starting my boat or antique autos. The 12 Volt products could plug into a cigarett lighter or the (removed) remote power outlet. Basically I took the battery out of this one and put it into my old Black & Decker Jump Starter, trashing the rest of this container, cables & clamps. Battery now works great in Old Unit.
